Jordan Anderson LMSW's lifelong commitment to making a positive impact on others began at a young age and continues to shape her path. She pursued Information Technology studies at the Western School of Technology and Environmental Science, followed by a BSW from Delaware State University and an MSW with a focus on Clinical Behavioral Health from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
Jordan's innovative approach is evident on both national and local scales, as she spearheads the integration of wellness spaces in communities. The pandemic further highlighted her passion for blending technology and social work, prompting her to implement service-enhancing systems as a Social Work Administrator. Beyond her professional endeavors, Jordan derives joy from thrilling experiences, nature exploration, and quality time with loved ones, including her furry companion. As the OMSW Field Placement Coordinator, she adeptly utilizes her skills to facilitate placements for Online Master of Social Work students, ensuring a valuable connection between coursework and field practicum experiences.
Catherine Pugh an esteemed alumna of Morgan State University has joined the school’s Center on Urban Violence and Crime as the Liaison for Network Development. Sheis a seasoned political figure with a rich public service and community involvement history. She was a prominent member of the Senate, representing District 40 in Baltimore City from January 10, 2007, to December 5, 2016. Throughout her tenure, she held various leadership positions within the Senate, including Majority Leader and Chair of several important committees. Her legislative accomplishments spanned a wide range of issues, including transportation, health, substance abuse, and fair practices. She also played a pivotal role in committees related to economic development, healthcare, education, and cybersecurity.
In addition to her Senate role, Catherine Pugh had a comprehensive track record of service in various capacities. She began her political career as a Member of the House of Delegates and later served on the Baltimore City Council. Her commitment to community well-being extended beyond politics, evident through her involvement in numerous organizations focused on education, arts, social services, and advocacy for minority business enterprises. Overall, Catherine Pugh's extensive and diverse engagement in legislative, community, and advocacy roles underscores her commitment to public service and her significant impact on Baltimore City and beyond.
Janaya Stanley, LCSW-C, proudly holds a degree from the School of Social Work and is an esteemed alumnus of the Bear Battalion, where she was commissioned into the Army Reserves. Her diverse career has spanned various industries, including education, legal, social welfare, administration, mental health, and substance use, all dedicated to serving urban communities. Across public, private, and government sectors, Janaya has provided invaluable services to children, families, adults, communities, and businesses. She's adept at leading both in-person and virtual training sessions, catering to audiences of varying sizes and backgrounds.
Janaya's wealth of experience extends to mentoring and supervising students from different disciplines, acting as a Social Work Field Supervisor. In recent years, her efforts have been dedicated to addressing the Behavioral Health challenges prevalent in urban communities, often stemming from acts of violence. Presently, as the BSW/MSW Field Placement Coordinator at the School of Social Work, she plays a pivotal role in assisting BSW and in-person MSW students in securing essential Field Placements to fulfill their Field Education requirements.
Ericka Sweeney-Stokes, LMSW serves as a Program Coordinator for the Field Education Program at Morgan State University's School of Social Work. With a wealth of experience since 1997 as a Social Work practitioner, Ericka's core focus lies in comprehending individuals within their environments and assessing how individual functioning resonates within the context of the Family Unit. Proficient in areas such as Comprehensive Assessment, Planning, and Crisis Resolution, she firmly believes that an individual's life experiences significantly shape their strengths and vulnerabilities.
At the heart of her role is the management of applications within the Tevera automated data system. Ericka's dedication to understanding the intricate interplay of individuals and their surroundings underscores her commitment to advancing the field of Social Work and empowering those she serves.
Bringing extensive expertise to her role as Writing Specialist for the School of Social Work, Marlyn Thomas originally hails from Fort Valley, Georgia, and pursued academic endeavors that include a bachelor's degree in English from Fort Valley State University and a master's degree in English from Kansas State University.
With over fifteen years of teaching experience, Marlyn passionately fosters effective writing skills within the School of Social Work's undergraduate and graduate programs. She engages students through personalized consultations, both in-person and online, and conducts workshops that cover crucial writing topics while emphasizing APA format guidelines. Marlyn's commitment to enhancing the writing process extends to facilitating peer review workshops, actively involving students in refining their editing and proofreading skills. Beyond her professional dedication, Marlyn's interests encompass exploring aspects of Black life and culture, relishing diverse cuisines, and embracing the transformative Rest is Resistance paradigm by Tricia Hersey.
