Current Research
At National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST, Gaithersburg Campus): As a NIST PREP Research Associate in the Biometric Group of the Information Access Division, I am engaged in forensic facial recognition research focused on evaluating algorithmic fairness, transparency, and cross-race bias in AI systems used in forensic and security contexts. My work involves designing and analyzing experiments that assess how demographic factors affect facial recognition accuracy, with the goal of developing interpretable and equitable AI models that support trustworthy biometric identification for national and public safety applications.
At CEAMLS/CAP Center, Morgan State University: I conduct research on 5G vulnerability assessment, applying deep learning techniques to detect anomalies and enhance the security of 5G networks.
Other Research Interests
- Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning: Focused on the mathematical foundations of machine learning, with an emphasis on deep learning, neural networks, and the use of advanced techniques—such as graph theory and statistical modeling—to optimize algorithm efficiency, accuracy, and transparency. Special attention is given to the development of explainable AI models, particularly within secure communication contexts.
- Secure communications: Network vulnerabilities analysis; Convex optimization; Advanced resilient distributed algorithms for autonomous dynamical systems.
- Cryptography: Focusing on advanced cryptographic methods, including quantum cryptography, homomorphic encryption, and blockchain technology. Investigating the mathematical foundations of cryptographic algorithms and their applications in secure communication systems.
