Available Positions
This message is to personally inform you that two tenure-track positions are open in the Department of Mathematics at Morgan State University.
The Department of Mathematics is one of three HBCUs in the nation that offers a PhD degree in the mathematical sciences. Situated next to the nation's capital in the city of Baltimore, this location is one of America's most exciting and cosmopolitan centers for research, teaching, and employment in the mathematical sciences. The department's Industrial and Computational Mathematics (ICM) PhD program is an interdisciplinary program that provides a home for scholars from many fields and directions who share a passion for mathematics and its applications. Our faculty are from a wide range of departments that includes mathematics, physics, biology, and computer science. They provide mentoring and advising to our students interested in their fields of expertise. These fields include differential equations, computational mathematics, financial mathematics, mathematical biology, mathematical physics, mathematics in machine learning algorithms, mathematical cryptography and cybersecurity, topological data analysis, and applied stochastic processes. ICM students acquire a solid foundation in mathematics, applied mathematics, and computational mathematics. They then explore how mathematical and computational thinking can be effective in areas as diverse as biology, physics, engineering, finance, etc. Or, they can choose to acquire greater depth in one of the core disciplines. Every year, our students continue to pursue their passion for mathematics and its applications in a variety of positions in industry and academia. Our master's program has been in existence since the 1960's. This program appeals to students interested in mastering a deeper theory of mathematics. Many students continue to pursue the PhD degree in the mathematical sciences or they find positions in education, industry, or government.
