Biography:
Cristina Murphy, a registered architect in the Netherlands, is Tenured Associate Professor at MSU and adjunct professor at WAAC-Virginia Tech. She started at OMA in Rotterdam with the CCTV project in Beijing. Cristina co-founded XCOOP, a think tank that analyzes contemporary living. After studying at the IUAV (Venice, Italy) and at TUDelft (Delft, Netherlands), Cristina earned her master's in architecture at Columbia University. Her research examines how to prevent social and urban inequity through the design of cities for people. This is delivered via design studios, study abroad sessions, and design-build activities. Among others, Cristina was a fellow at the Taliesin School of Architecture, Hyde Chair of Excellence at the UNL, and Lecturer at UofA. Cristina was a guest reviewer at UCA, El Salvador, TUDelft, MIARD, ASU, and the University of Wisconsin. She was a thesis mentor at the Politecnico of Milan. Since 2018, she has collaborated with RAVB and MICA.
