National Transportation Center
Publications
The National Transportation Center publishes a variety of educational and research materials designed to share knowledge about transportation with academics, policymakers, and the public. The following pages offer several channels to view our past work and partnerships.
The UMEC Archive
The Urban Mobility and Equity Center (UMEC), a Tier-1 University Transportation Center, was established with a $1.4 million grant from the US Department of Transportation in 2016 to explore topics related to the mobility of people and goods in urban environments. The UMEC grant ended in 2023 after facilitating 51 projects and 2 patents. UMEC was administered by the NTC and included researchers from Morgan State University, University of Maryland, and Virginia Tech.
Selected NTC Projects
The center often partners with other universities or administrative bodies to study topics related to transportation mobility, safety, and behavior. These projects cover some of our partnerships with the Maryland Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and other institutions from 1996 to the present.
