Multi-Media Studio Track

Multi-Media Studio focuses primarily with the plastic arts such as Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, Photography and Printmaking.

Requirements for the B.A. Degree in Fine Art

A minimum of 120 credit hours are required to graduate with a B.A. in Fine Art. These credit hours are distributed as follows:

• General Education and University Requirements: 43 credits
• Liberal Arts Core Requirements: 6 credits
• Required Core Courses for the Fine Arts Major: 30 credits
• Required Courses for the Fine Art Track: 41 credits

TOTAL: 120 CREDITS 

Also, to qualify for graduation, Multi-Media Studio students MUST:

1. Pass the Juried Senior Portfolio Review;
2. Complete all of their junior- and senior-level requirements in the major at Morgan (unless granted prior written permission by the Dean to take courses elsewhere); 
3. Earn a cumulative average of 2.0 or better and a major average of 2.0 or better, with no outstanding grades below "C" in the major (which includes all courses required for the major and required supporting courses including foreign language requirement).

Some required course include

Basic Printmaking (ART 205) Basic techniques in the traditional printmaking media will be presented. Emphasis may be placed upon lithography and etching for the major portion of a student's work in the course.

Ceramics (ART 302) The elements of ceramics will be studied as they are applicable in general and as flexible plastic art medium. Appreciation as well as skill will be stressed through a general history of ceramics and through experimentation with ceramic materials.

Advanced Photography (ART 370) This course focuses on interpreting printing style to convey personal vision. Techniques covered include manipulating the negative, toning, archival processing and gallery presentation. Through weekly critiques and demonstrations, students print portfolio pieces while refining their technical skills.

Digital Photo. Imaging (ART 477) This course focuses on digital photography as an alternative to film photography, and it is structured around a combination of software demonstrations, techniques and aesthetics.
