Prospective Students
REQUIREMENTS FOR B.A. in Fine Art
Students must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours are required to graduate with a B.A. in Fine Art.
These credit hours are distributed as follows:
- General Education and University Requirements - 43 credits
- Liberal Arts Core Requirements - 6 credits
- Required Core Courses for the Fine Arts Major - 30 credits
- Required Courses for the Fine Art Concentration - 41 credits
TOTAL: 120 credits
MINOR
It also a offers minor in Fine Art for those wishing to develop their arts interests as a supplement to their major field. The minor in Fine Art requires students to complete a sequence of 18 credits. LEARN MORE
HONORS PROGRAM
The Departmental Honors Program in Fine Art is a complement to and is intended to be pursued during the junior and senior years after completion of-the university-wide Honors Program in the General Education Program.
The Departmental Honors Program is designed to broaden the range and increase the depth of study in the major by providing opportunities for:
(1) developing advanced analytical and critical thinking skills specific to the discipline,
(2) reading extensively and intensively the seminal great books in the field,
(3) investigating, conducting research on and defending a topic, thesis, or project,
(4) laying the foundation for life-long, independent learning, and
(5) developing a sense of belonging in the Community of Scholars and a commitment to the advancement of knowledge.
Below are the minimum requirements for consideration and scholarships:
First-time Freshmen
(In-State Requirements)
Minimum GPA: 3.00
(Out-of-State Requirements)
Minimum GPA: 3.10
Transfer Students
Minimum GPA: 3.00
Minimum of 24 Community College Credit Hours
Eligible first-time freshmen and transfer students are screened by the Office of Undergraduate Admission and Recruitment for admission to the Honors College.
The deadline for priority consideration for admission into the Honors College is December 31st. LEARN MORE
TEACHER CERTIFICATION
The 5-year BS/ BA + MAT program integrates both graduate work and undergraduate experience, allowing candidates to earn both a BS/BA and a M.A.T degree in 5 years. Undergraduate candidates and graduates must major in Art.
To attain certification to teach art, students must complete one of the focus areas in art and see the School of Education and Urban Studies for additional courses required for teacher certification and/or the five year Master's Program in Education. LEARN MORE
