A Message from the Office of Human Resources Phased Return to Campus, Mandatory Vaccinations and Telework

As a reminder, Morgan State University will reopen campus for the Fall 2021 semester. In order to do so safely, the University will use a phased approach for reopening. Phase I (current phase) will continue with the return of those work units that must prepare for the arrival and enrollment of our students for the fall semester, prior to August 1, 2021. Phase II will begin on August 2, with the return of all other faculty and staff to prepare for the beginning of the new academic year and to welcome our students back. Management will notify employees regarding their specific return date.

The University has implemented a COVID vaccination mandate, effective August 1, 2021. To meet this requirement, an employee must be fully vaccinated at least two weeks prior to their return-to-campus date. That is, an employee must have received both shots of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccination or one shot of the Johnson-Johnson vaccination no later than July 16, 2021. In order to meet this mandate, employees must proactively plan their vaccination. Morgan State University will comply with all Federal and State laws with respect to granting appropriate exemptions for medical and religious reasons. The Vaccination Management Team will provide detailed policy and protocol information in the coming weeks and this information will be updated on the University's COVID update webpage: www.morgan.edu/coronavirus.

The health and safety of our campus community is our top priority; therefore, we will continue to adhere to appropriate safety protocols. Accordingly, those employees returning to campus in Phase 1 (prior to August 2, 2021) will continue the indoor masking, and daily symptom checks requirements, along with some testing until further notice/directive by the Health & Safety Committee. Consideration is being given to relaxing this requirement for those employees who have been fully vaccinated.

TELEWORK UPDATE

Employees will recall that in March 2020, the University implemented the Pandemic Telework Program and Agreement. That program will terminate with the campus re-opening, effective August 2. Employees will receive a communication from their managers regarding the dissolution of the Pandemic Telework Agreement. In its place, the University will revert to its regular University's Telework Policy, which can be found on the www.morgan.edu/hr page under "HR Policies." If you have questions regarding your telework status or need further directives, please communicate with your direct supervisor.
