About The Care Team

The Care Support and Intervention Team is a multi-disciplinary group that assesses and responds to referred student health, wellbeing and  behavioral concerns.

The Team works with  students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community members to facilitate the appropriate delivery of student support, both within and outside of the University.

When stress is not appropriately managed, this can lead to interference in academic performance, extreme mood changes, irritability or thoughts or feelings of suicide. 

Here are a few signs and symptoms that students may exhibit:

• Social withdrawal
• Drug and alcohol concerns
• Medical/health concerns
• Basic need insecurities (food insecurity, homelessness, etc.)
• Marked changes in personal hygiene
• Irritability
• Significant changes in academic performance
• Unusual acting out
• Managing loss/grief
• Prolonged depressed mood, and/or frequent tearfulness and crying spells

Disruptive behavior causes interference that can lead to intense emotions, physical aggression, and/or violent action. In the event of an emergency that requires immediate intervention, contact Morgan State University’s Department of Police and Public Safety (443-885.3130) or call 911. In these cases, a referral would be made to the Threat Assessment Team .

It is important that the Care Support and Intervention Team is informed of any incidents that involve behavior that interfere with student learning and/or development. To properly report a behavioral concern, please complete the Student Concern Report Form .
