Mr. Waters earned his bachelor's in biology and master's in higher education/student affairs administration. Having worked in several capacities with the University at Buffalo's Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program, he co-facilitated high-impact undergraduate workshops, service-learning, and summer and academic year faculty-mentored research experiences. As General Associate with the Meyerhoff Scholars Program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), Mr. Waters oversaw scholar recruitment and selection, grant writing, and data collection and reporting. Additionally, he was very involved in promoting research activity participation, such as helping students apply for funded internships and preparing students to attend local and national conferences. Most recently, as Coordinator with the Center for Women in Technology at UMBC, Mr. Waters expanded allyship programming, which focuses on fostering a more gender-inclusive environment and workforce for women in computing and technology fields. Taken together, his combination of educational and work experiences have solidified his commitment to holistically supporting students interested in research while advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in underrepresented careers.
