19th Amendment
Celebrating the 100th Year of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution
Among her extraordinary research, Dr. Rosalyn Terborg-Penn brought to light the phenomenal efforts of Black women to secure the vote for women in the United States.
The 19th Amendment to the Constitution was passed by Congress on June 4, 1919 and ratified on August 18, 1920. It guarantees all American women the right to vote, following a long and arduous struggle that included protest, agitation, marches, lobbing and civil disobedience.
