The Association of Supply Chain Management (ASCM) is built on a foundation of APICS certification and training spanning 60 years. The student chapter of APICS, the American Production and Inventory Control Society, is one of the new student organizations on Morgan State University's campus and is led by the Graves School of Business, Services and Supply Chain Program. The mission of the APICS student chapter is to promote the field of supply chain while providing opportunities for students to grow professionally and academically.
Since the formation of the Morgan State APICS Student Chapter, the chapter has offered various networking and career readiness opportunities for students of all majors. Some events include information sessions with leading companies such as: Stanley Black and Decker, Ernst and Young, Lockheed Martin, Sandia National Laboratories, Boeing, and T. Rowe Price. Other events include mock interviews, resume critiquing, and promotion of various MSU and ASCM sponsored conferences.
The Morgan State APICS Student Chapter hosts an annual kick off meeting to explain the benefits of APICS membership, inform students on supply chain careers, and to provide details on the MSU Services and Supply Chain major. During this kick off, students are informed on the job security of supply chain careers, how it relates to other majors in the school of business, the importance of technology in supply chain, and the different functional areas in supply chain.
