Recycling Services

The mission of the Morgan State University Campus Recycling Program is to provide excellence in waste reduction, recycling services and education to the entire University community while attaining the reduction, reuse, and recycling goals mandated by the State of Maryland. Not only does the program provide these services, it serves as a place where students can be involved in leadership roles as well. This program is cooperative venture among facilities services, University Housing and University Administration. Recycling has so many benefits which include but are not limited to:

  • Saving Energy
  • Saving Resources
  • Reducing Pollution
  • Conserving Landfill Space
  • Providing Raw Materials for New Products

WHAT CAN BE RECYCLED?
Practically all non-food related items can be recycled and placed in the appropriately marked recycling containers all across campus making it much easier to go clean and green. We have containers for laser and inkjet cartridges, glass, batteries, paper, fluorescent tubes, bottles and cans. We also pick up and recycle cardboard boxes and pallets. Finally, we recycle clothes, shoes and books through Planet Aid bins which are located between Communications & Engineering, Rawlings & Blount and in Y Lot behind the Murphy Fine Arts Building.

WHO CAN RECYCLE?
Everybody! We encourage all faculty, staff, students, visitors, and contractors of the campus community to participate in our recycling program and promotional/educational activities. Working together, our community will blaze new trails as a leader in recycling and waste prevention.

WHERE ARE WE LOCATED?
We are located off of Cold Spring Lane in the Washington Service Center Annex, in trailer #1. Please drop your recyclables in the recycle bin located inside each building on campus or at the Recycling Center.
