Dr. Mark Barnes

Dr. Mark Barnes is an Associate Professor in the History and Geography Department at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD. As a geographer, his scholarship intersects hazards, global environmental change, urban, and economic geography subfields. His work emphasizes equity, mobility, sustainability, and environmental justice concerns and interventions relating to the causes and consequences of institutional and societal responses to weather and climate hazards and disasters. Broadly, Dr. Barnes' research agenda entails investigative undertakings of localized and metropolitan-scale analyses of extreme weather and climate change vulnerability, adaptation and resilience with the aid of geospatial tools.
