STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS
The Office of Student Life Development at Morgan State University is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and enriching experience for all students. As the cornerstone of student engagement on campus, our office is committed to extending our support and providing diverse opportunities to enhance your collegiate journey. Our mission is to empower students to find their voice, advocate for their passions, and develop leadership skills in various capacities.
To ensure the success and sustainability of student organizations, we adhere to the following guidelines:
- Uniqueness: The organization should offer something not currently available on campus.
- Need and Consensus: There must be a demonstrated need and general agreement of student led interest for the organization.
- Sustainability: The organization should have a solid foundational principle and the potential to thrive for at least three academic years.
We are always open to new ideas and are here to support you in creating a vibrant and dynamic campus life.

WHAT IS A STUDENT ORGANIZATION?
A student organization at Morgan State University is defined as a group of currently enrolled undergraduate students united to promote a common interest. While these organizations significantly enhance campus life, their recognition does not imply endorsement by the University.
Student organizations must adhere to state and federal laws, local ordinances, and all Morgan State University policies, including the Student Code of Conduct. If an organization or its members are alleged to have violated these policies, the University may investigate and impose necessary sanctions.
To remain active, all student organizations are required to sponsor programs and complete at least 50 hours of community service per academic year, as overseen by the Office of Student Life & Development.
REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR RECOGNIZED STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS
Student organizations at Morgan State University must register annually with the Office of Student Life & Development. This registration takes place between May 1st and June 1st via the Bears Den website. Failure to register by the deadline results in the organization losing any previously approved dates/events and being marked as inactive until the registration is completed.
A representative of each organization must complete the registration form to verify the organization's active status. Incomplete information (such as valid Morgan email address, student ID number, phone number, etc.) will delay the registration process. Once approved, the registration will be reflected on the Bears Den website.
The Bears Den
During the spring 2022 semester, the Office of Student Life & Development introduced our online hub for student organizations “The Bears Den”. This is an interactive digital platform that will help the Morgan State University community navigate the student leader community, find ways to get involved, view your personal account and involvement, and manage your organizations as an officer or student leader.
Through the Bears Den, student organizations are able to customize their organization's page (including a summary/description, contact information, link external websites and social media handles), as well as add media content such as pictures and videos. Additionally, organizations will be able to maintain documents, hold elections, post events, track involvement/community service, and manage their rosters.
