What is CASA Academy?
The CASA Academy is a five-week summer alternative admissions program. CASA Academy students are required to attend the five-week program as a condition of their admission to the University. Students must successfully complete the program in order to gain admission to the University. Successful completion means that the student has earned a minimum grade of "C" or 70% in all of their CASA Academy courses. CASA Academy courses include Mathematics, and Analytical and Critical Reading (ALCR)/English. Students will also be introduced to a strengths-based orientation seminar designed to help build students' awareness of their natural talents.

CASA Academy is an academically intense and rigorous residential program. The 2025 program dates are Sunday, June 29, and end on Friday, August 1st. Participants' primary purpose and goal in participating in CASA Academy are to improve their skill development in the identified core areas in order to gain admission to the University.

Why was I referred to CASA Academy?
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions refers students to CASA Academy based on their high school GPA and/or test scores. Once referred to the program, you must participate and pass CASA Academy in order to be admitted to Morgan State University. For more information about admissions, visit, www.morgan.edu/admissions

Is there a limit on the number of students CASA Academy accepts?
We accept 150 participants on a first-come-first, serve basis. Students must submit/complete ALL items on the checklist in order to reserve their space in the 2025 CASA Academy program.

How do I register for CASA Academy Program?
The CASA Academy Registration Checklist provides all steps that must be completed in order to participate in the 2025 CASA Academy.

  • Complete the CASA Academy Participation Agreement (More information to come regarding the link)
  • Submit two non-refundable payments of $400 which are non-refundable payment for meals (3 meals per day Monday through Friday and 2 Meals on Saturday and Sunday for 5 weeks)
  • Email the completed Health Entrance Certificate to healthcenter@morgan.edu  (deadline - June 20, 2025)
  • Complete and Email Meningococcal Vaccine Waiver (if applicable) to healthcenter@morgan.edu
  • Submit Weekend Off-Campus Permission Form

How much does the CASA Academy Program cost?
The cost to participate in CASA Academy 2025 is $800, full and partial payments are non-refundable. This fee is non-refundable and covers the cost of any three (3) meals per day for the 5-weeks of CASA Academy(3 meals per day Monday through Friday and 2 Meals on Saturday and Sunday for 5 weeks). Is participation in the CASA Academy Program mandatory?
Yes. Once the Office of Undergraduate Admission refers a student, the student must participate in CASA Academy in order to be admitted to the University. The student must complete CASA Academy with a "C" or 70% in all of their CASA Academy courses.

When will I get my financial aid package?
Financial aid packages should start to be released around June. The first step is filling out your FAFSA. To find out more information, please visit www.morgan.edu/financialaid

When do I apply for housing?
The housing application for Fall 2025 will close on May 16th. It is imperative to apply for housing when the application is open. Do not wait until after CASA academy. To find out more information, visit www.morgan.edu/reslife

Can I select my roommate for the CASA Academy Program?
No, students will be randomly assigned roommates of the same gender. Students will receive their residence hall assignments on the day of move-in, Sunday, June 29, 2025.

What does a typical day for CASA Academy students look like?
Students are in class from 9:00 am- 4:00 pm, with lunch from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm. Mandatory tutoring is at the end of each class period. Throughout the summer, there will be evening activities for students to participate in.

Do students have a curfew, and can I bring my car?
Students are required to abide by their 11 pm curfew and may not leave campus during the week. Students may leave on the weekend if a parent /guardian signs the weekend off form. CASA Academy students may not bring vehicles to campus. Exceptions to this policy must be requested of the Director in advance and be made in writing. Exceptions will be granted in only the most exceptional of circumstances.

Do I have to live on campus during the CASA Academy Program?
Yes, students must live on campus during the CASA Academy Program. The University provides on-campus housing during the 5 weeks. 

When do I report to the CASA Academy Program?
CASA Academy begins with check-in. Students must check in to assigned residence halls between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm. The opening program is on Sunday, June 29 beginning at 1:00 pm. The program ends on Friday, August 1, closing ceremony beginning at 10:00 am.

What should I bring to the CASA Academy Program?
Students should bring regular-size twin sheets, pillow covers, pillow, bedspread, blanket or comforter, toiletries, washcloths, and towels; also, microwave, mini-fridge, computer and notebook, paper, pens, and personal clothing (including a "professional attire" outfit for the Closing Ceremony & MSU Connections). How do I access my Morgan email?
It takes approximately seven days for IT to activate your Morgan email from the date of your confirmation email once fully paid. Your Morgan email can be found in your initial admission email or letter. Your temporary password information can be found here: https://www.morgan.edu/technologyfaq. The first letter of your first name is capitalized + the first letter of your last name in lowercase + your 8-digit student ID number + two exclamation marks.
Example: Name - John Doe ID Number - 12345678 Initial Password = Jd12345678!
