Education:

Ph.D. Biochemistry, Albert Einstein School of Medicine, 1994

Current Research:

We examine the coupling between neural activity and glucose transporter type 3 (GLUT3). We focus on NMDAR signaling through nitric oxide (NO) and Ca2+ dynamics that regulate the trafficking of GLUT3 and expression at cell surface. The understanding of the mechanism by which neural activity regulates GLUT3 trafficking may elucidate the influence of neural metabolism on physiologic and pathologic conditions of the CNS.
