Program Outline

Program Requirements

All students coming into the Applied Liberal Studies program must have a GPA of 2.0 or greater. The Applied Liberal Studies program is a rigorous multidisciplinary program that pushes students to challenge themselves academically and professionally.

General Education:
Students wishing to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Liberal Studies must complete the General Education requirements outlined by Morgan State University.

Area of Interest:
The Area of Interest for Applied Liberal Studies is a purposefully selected combination of multidisciplinary courses that provides a student with a liberal education for the 21st century. Courses that make up a student's Area of Interest should enhance a student's understanding of a subject area. Course selection requires advisement to fully reflect on the student's academic, career, and personal interests. All courses applied to the Area of Interest requirements must have a grade of a "C" or better.

Lower Level:
Students must complete at least 24 credit hours at the 100-200 level. These courses should be taken purposefully and align to a student's career and academic goals.

Upper Level:
Students must complete at least 36 credit hours at the 300-400 level. As with the Lower Level courses Upper-Level courses should be taken purposefully and align to a student's career and academic goals.

Internship/external experience:
Students must complete 18 credit hours worth of external experiences which can include, service, internships, externships, and professional work experience. The Internship/External Experience Process walks students through having their external experience approved to count towards the 18 credit hour requirement.
