Ph.D. in Business Administration (Finance Track)
Program Objectives
The Finance Ph.D. program prepares graduates for careers in teaching and research in academic settings or positions that require similar skills. Graduates of the program are expected to make significant contributions to the advancement of the field of finance through research and to disseminate such knowledge through their teaching. Learners that graduate from the program should be able to:
- demonstrate advanced knowledge of theories used to support academic research in finance, awareness of commonly applied empirical methods, and substantial familiarity with research considered to be among the classics and most current for the seminar areas in the curriculum;
- demonstrate the ability to apply basic instructional techniques (e.g., engaging learners, preparing and delivering appropriate content, and designing course assessments); and
- demonstrate the ability to complete advanced research and communicate the outcomes of this research to an academic audience in writing and through oral presentation.
