The University Health Center offers a full array of healthcare services to Morgan State University students. All Morgan State University students who have private Health Insurance (does not include students with Morgan State University Health Insurance Plan with United Healthcare) must pay for services in the University Health Center. Appointments may require processing of labs (blood work and urinalysis) based on symptoms of the patient to support diagnosis. All labs (blood work and urinalysis) are processed by an external lab (BioRefence and/or LabCorp). The external lab charges the patients Health Insurance carrier for the external labs. The Health Insurance carrier determines the percentage of the bill it will cover; and the patient is responsible for paying the remaining balance.
If a student Schedules an Appointment that requires prescriptions be electronically submitted to a pharmacy; please be advised, the pharmacy determines the cost of the medication, your Health Insurance carrier determines the percentage of cost it will cover, and the patient is responsible for paying the remaining balance for medications.
The University Health Center administers Pregnancy Tests. The Pregnancy Test requires a urine specimen, which detects test results by checking for the hormone called Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG). Please be advised, based on the test results, we require students to schedule an appointment to review the results with a Nurse Practitioner.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Depo-Provera is a well-known brand name for medroxprogesterone acetate, a contraceptive injection that contains the hormone porgestin. Depo-Provera is administered as an injection every three-months.
Please be advised, you are required to submit your primary care physician documentation indicating that the initial Depo shot was administered, to include the date of when the Depo shot was administered. MSU students are required to bring their Depo Injections with them before visiting the University Health Center. The University Health Center does not order or supply Depo Injections. However, we administer the Depo Injections.

According to the CDC, Hepatitis B is a serious disease caused by a virus that attacks the liver. The virus, which is called Hepatitis B virus (HBV), can cause lifelong infection, cirrhosis (scarring) of the liver, liver cancer, liver failure, and death. The Hepatitis B vaccine has a series of three vaccinations in a calendar year. Each individual Hepatitis B vaccine cost $70.00.

According to the CDC, Tuberculosis (TB) is caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The bacteria usually attach the lungs, but TB bacteria can attack any part of the body such as the kidney, spine, and brain. Not everyone with TB bacteria becomes sick.
IMPORTANT: Please visit the University Health Center approx. 48 hours after the TB Test is administered to receive your results. If you do not visit the University Health Center within the 48 hour time frame; your results will be voided. If your results are void, you will be required to take another TB Test.

According to the CDC, Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and lungs. There are two main types of influenza (flu) viruses: types A and B. The influenza A and B viruses that routinely spread in people (human influenza viruses) are responsible for seasonal flue epidemics each year.
The Morgan State University Student Health Center generally begins scheduling appointments and administering the Influenza vaccine in October.
