Conduct Process
Making Positive Decisions
The conduct process begins with you, the student, making choices that produce positive outcomes for you and the MSU community. Prior to a Code violation, step into the right choice. Stop, Think, Exhale, Positive.
- When things begin to escalate Stop
- Think about options and consequences
- Take time to Exhale and breathe through the situation
- Choose the behavior that will yield the most Positive results
Some examples of acceptable behaviors include the following:
- Walk away from the situation and report it.
- Request and participate in mediation.
- Report the violation and remain to explain.
Once an alleged Student Code of Conduct violation has taken place and has been reported to the OSRR.
- An investigation is launched.
- Charged parties receive a notice of conduct conference from the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities.
- Read the entire notice.
- Check student email, spam, and Guardian account for correspondence.
- Any charged student may call the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities to inquire about case details.
- Arrive on time for the conduct conference as they are generally not rescheduled.
- Provide your account of the events during the conference.
- A decision is made regarding the case and correspondence is emailed to the student and posted in Guardian.
After a decision has been made
- Reflect on your behaviors and strive to make future decisions that yield the most positive results for yourself and the MSU community.
- If a hearing is scheduled, appear on time for the hearing as they are generally not rescheduled.
- If deemed responsible, satisfy sanctions prior to the deadline. Upload your submission directly to Guardian or email directly to studentrights@morgan.edu.
- Access resources that may assist with your success as an MSU student.
