Research Infrastructure Investments to Elevate Morgan State University to Carnegie R1 Status

Morgan State University, a historically Black university in Baltimore, is committed to advancing its research capabilities and has set a goal to achieve Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education (CCIHE) R1 status by 2030. Building on its successful attainment of R2 status in 2018, MSU's 2020 Strategic Plan focuses on expanding research funding, recruiting postdoctoral researchers, and improving infrastructure to support institutional growth. By fostering collaborations with industry and government agencies, the university aims to enhance research opportunities, increase doctoral conferrals, and drive innovation that benefits local and global communities.
