Professor Suzanne Frasier Receives Highest Honor in Interior Design
The School of Architecture and Planning (SA+P) is proud to announce that Professor Suzanne Frasier has been elevated to the College of Fellows by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). This prestigious honor recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the field of interior design and is bestowed upon less than one percent of ASID’s membership.
Professor Frasier was inducted into the College of Fellows at the ASID’s annual leadership conference in Denver, Colorado on August 13th. She is one of only six new Fellows recognized this year, joining a distinguished group of fewer than 300 Fellows nationwide.
Since joining Morgan State University in 2005, Professor Frasier has been instrumental in shaping the future of interior design education. She was the driving force behind the establishment of the university’s first four-year Interior Design degree program, which has rapidly grown into a thriving academic unit with a strong connection to the professional design community. Her leadership, combined with her extensive industry experience and global perspective, has created a program that is poised to make a significant impact on the field.
Professor Frasier's dedication to her students and her commitment to advancing the interior design profession are evident in her numerous accomplishments. She has conducted groundbreaking research on non-Western design and material culture, sharing her expertise through teaching, scholarly publications, and museum exhibitions. Her Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship enabled her to immerse herself in Indian design culture, enriching her teaching and inspiring future generations of designers.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Professor Frasier is actively involved in the professional design community. She serves on the Maryland State Board of Certified Interior Designers and has been instrumental in establishing the Center for Architecture and Design in downtown Baltimore.
Professor Frasier’s elevation to the ASID College of Fellows is a testament to her extraordinary career and her unwavering dedication to the field of interior design. Morgan State University is honored to have her as a faculty member and is excited to see the continued growth and success of the Interior Design program under her leadership.
