Biography:
Benjamin Akhavan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Graduate Built Environment Studies at Morgan State University. He is the principal of FOAWM, a nondescript firm / office / atelier / workshop / milieu with polyvalent interests at the intersection of architecture and urban life. His current research focuses on architectural techno-imaginaries in the urban environment, with a focus on recapturing latent energy for social engagement. Akhavan’s work has been featured in the Cambridge University Press Materials Research Society Proceedings, New York Review of Architecture, Mashrabiya, and MIT Thresholds.
