The Benjamin A. Quarles Graduate Fellowship
Welcome Prospective Graduate Fellows!
The Benjamin Quarles Graduate Student Scholars program is pleased to announce the 2025 Call for Proposals for Summer research stipends for Graduate Student Scholars.
We invite proposals that consider how the public humanities have arrived at their current place, what that place looks like to us today, and where we wish to go from here. We especially encourage proposals that engage humanities practitioners, professionals, and scholars/academics to discuss shared or aligned destinations in the humanities and humanities-related social sciences disciplines/areas.
Funding Range: $3,000-$ 5,000 based on the length of the project and the deliverable (s). Number of Awards: 4
ELIGIBILITY:
- Graduate students must be within the two (2) years of completing the dissertation and will use the funds for specific aspects of their work;
- PhD students whose research focuses on, but not limited to, the interdisciplinary and integrated study of African-American and African Diaspora life and culture and will include a research and scholarship program for faculty in the humanities and related social sciences and for graduate students training for careers in academe.
- Related disciplines included Art, English, History, Philosophy, Anthropology, Political Theory, Political Philosophy, and humanities and theoretical approaches in other related social sciences.
- Morgan State University PhD students with demonstrated potential for research in the proposed area.
- Collaborative Research Projects are welcome.

- Describe the specific aims/goals of the project.
- Describe the methodological approach(es).

- State how funding will impact the outcomes.
- Describe the length of the proposed project.
