Psychology Research Facilities
Many faculty in the Department of Psychology and Psychometrics have affiliations with one or more interdisciplinary research labs. Numerous research facilities are available to faculty and students, including laboratories in cognition development, psychometrics, physiological research, and observational facilities for social and developmental psychological research. Animal spaces and facilities are also conveniently available.
Physiological Research Facilities
The physiological lab is used to support instruction, demonstration, faculty research, and practice in the understanding of animal and human physiology. The room is used to support laboratory/instructional activities such as the dissection of sheep brains, cardiovascular labs to assess the measurement of blood pressure, resting heart rate; nutrition labs, stress labs to assess physiological reactions to stress, weight management labs, physical activity labs, and substance abuse labs.
Cognitive Research Facilities
The cognitive lab is used to support small group instruction, demonstration, and practice in the understanding of cognitive and perceptual studies. The room is used to support laboratory/instructional activities such as studies designed to examine participants point of gaze and eye movement for research on attention and memory.
Developmental Research Facilities
The developmental lab is used to support small group instruction, demonstration, and practice in the understanding of lifespan development. The room is used to support laboratory/instructional activities such as observational assessments of developmental tasks (e.g., cognitive/moral development, social interaction, aging, and focus groups).
General Psychology Research facilities
The general psychology lab is used to support small group instruction, demonstration, and practice in the understanding of psychology as a science. The room is used to support faculty and student research.
Psychometrics/Neuropsychology Research facilities
The psychometrics lab is used to conduct psychological assessments and individual/small group data collection.
Animal Research Facility
The Animal Research Facility located in the Martin D. Jenkins Behavioral and Social Sciences Center is a state-of-the-art facility that supports Morgan State University scholars in their conduct of groundbreaking research.
