Veronica Davalos J., originally from Quito, Ecuador, serves as a full-time lecturer in the
Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Morgan State University. She holds a
master’s degree in Ethics, Peace, and Human Rights from American University and has
completed specialized certifications in project management, religious activism, spirituality,
gender and migration studies, and political anthropology at institutions such as Georgetown
University and FLACSO in Buenos Aires.
Her academic work focuses on Latin American philosophy, phenomenology, existentialism,
applied ethics, and decolonial thought. She has contributed to the philosophical field
through translating and analyzing texts by key Latin American thinkers such as Leopoldo
Zea and Carlos Vaz Ferreira, bridging these traditions with contemporary ethical
discourses.
Beyond academia, Veronica has worked in policy and advocacy roles, including as a Policy
Organizer for the national office at Jobs for Justice and as a National Protection Associate
with the United Nations Migration Agency / International Organization for Migration
(IOM), where she led projects on gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health,
and the protection of vulnerable populations. She has also taught in the Department of
Philosophy and Religion at American University in Washington, DC.
