Morgan President David K. Wilson Named to the Boards of T. Rowe Price Charitable and TIAA

Higher Education Thought Leader Joins Two of the Foremost National Organizations in the Nonprofit Donor-Advised Funds and Retirement Investment Solutions Industries

BALTIMORE—Morgan State University President David K. Wilson, one of the most sought-after thought leaders in higher education, has been chosen to serve on the boards of two nationally recognized organizations. Wilson was recently selected for the T. Rowe Price Charitable Board of Directors and the TIAA Board of Governors. T. Rowe Price Charitable is an independent, nonprofit public charity that sponsors national donor-advised funds, and TIAA is a leading provider of secure retirements and outcome-focused investment solutions serving millions of people and thousands of institutions. Both board appointments are effective immediately.

“It is an honor, and I am immensely humbled to be selected to serve on the boards of directors of these highly respected and nationally recognized organizations,” said Wilson. “It will be my privilege to join the distinctive collective of leaders that have been assembled at T. Rowe Price Charitable and TIAA to lend my voice and perspective to their strategic governance efforts. Members of T. Rowe Price Charitable’s Board of Directors manage authority over all aspects of the organization, including assets, investment activities and grant decisions. This oversight also incorporates the power to approve grant recommendations and investment allocations. Wilson joins six other members serving on the board.

The seven-member TIAA Board of Governors is responsible for defining TIAA’s mission, overseeing TIAA’s business strategies and performance in consultation with the CEO and management, reviewing policy issues affecting TIAA, overseeing matters that could threaten TIAA’s general reputation and approving amendments to TIAA’s charter and bylaws. Each member serves a seven-year term.

Wilson is no stranger to serving on national, high-profile governing boards. In addition to the aforementioned board appointments, he serves on the Lumina Foundation Board of Directors and the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AGB) Board of Directors. He previously served on the NCAA Board of Governors and Division I Board of Directors, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Visiting Committee on Advanced Technology, the Board of the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) and the Board of the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), and in 2010, he was appointed by President Barack Obama to serve on the President’s Board of Advisors on HBCUs.
