Duane Saunders Jr. is a Professor of Practice in the School of Global Journalism & Communication and Manager of BEAR-TV at Morgan State University. He is also an honors graduate of Morgan State University; Class of 2016.

During his final semester as an undergrad, Mr. Saunders made his directing debut in a documentary filmmaking class taught by actor and producer, Tim Reid. The short film “What So Proudly We Hail” uncovers the third verse of the U.S. National Anthem. It gained national recognition and went on to receive multiple awards.

After graduating, he was hired as a Production Associate for Tim Reid Productions in Richmond, VA. During his time with the company, he traveled to Havana, Cuba to assist with a joint production with SGJC and La Facultad de Comunicacion (University of Havana). He also assisted with a documentary, “A Matter of Life'', which was filmed in London and debuted at the British Film Institute.

In addition to working on short films, Mr. Saunders has three years of corporate videography experience with global investment management firm, T. Rowe Price. He produced a variety of internal and external production content for the company’s clients and associates worldwide. The videos included interviews, live events, TV broadcasts and creative highlights. In 2019, he was received the company’s Lightning Bolt Award (equivalent to the President’s Award).

He is the recipient of Morgan State University’s 2022 and 2023 PowerLIVE Faculty Award. This award highlights multiple Faculty/Staff members across campus for their commitment to Morgan State University students and their academic success. He encourages his students by sharing his motto “If you cannot find a way, make a way” – believing that there is always a way for students to achieve what they want.
