Policies
POLICIES ON STUDENT INTERNSHIPS
*Juniors and Seniors maintaining a GPA of 2.7 or better shall be eligible to obtain credits for internships by enrolling in HIST 498.
*Before a student enrolls, h/she must contact the departmental internship coordinator to identify an internship which reflects the philosophy and objectives of the College of Liberal Arts and of the Department of History and Geography.
*Interns must work a minimum of 90 hours at the internship.
*Before beginning the internship, the student and the departmental internship coordinator must produce a proposal outlining what the student will be expected to accomplish over the course of the internship.
*Once the internship is completed, the student will complete a second report describing his/her activities during the internship period and assessing whether and why the original goals were/were not accomplished.
*The students’ superior at the site of the internship will also be expected to write an evaluation of the student’s performance. This evaluation will assess the work which the student did and the quality of the work.
*The internship coordinator will award the student credit for HIST 498 when these reports have been satisfactorily completed.
