Department of Economics
Mission
Consistent with the mission of Morgan State University and the College of Liberal Arts, the economics program seeks to provide first-class educational opportunity for students from diverse backgrounds. As a part of its offering in the general education sequence, The Department of Economics is responsible for broadening economic literacy among Morgan State University students. With these skills, students will be able to: identify economic problems, alternatives, costs and benefits; master a basic level of economic literacy that will help them to better comprehend the world; and make wise choices in a global world of accelerating change. The economics curriculum is geared toward providing a comprehensive program of studies as a discipline for students planning to enter the job market in the private and public sectors as well as those who plan to pursue graduate or professional schools.
