Michael Humes, PLA, ASLA is a Visiting Instructor in the Graduate Landscape Architecture Program, teaching courses in advanced landscape technologies. He is a registered landscape architect in the State of Maryland and holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Pennsylvania State University. An Associate Principal at Mahan Rykiel Associates (Baltimore), Michael’s practice focuses on urban parks and infrastructure, and navigates various landscape typologies, with complex and diverse open space and development requirements. His research emphasizes the integration of emerging technologies with detail-oriented design –– and demonstrates a forward-thinking approach to both design innovative and construction implementation. As a studio leader, he has successfully integrated the use of Revit as a primary design process tool –– scaling its use throughout the firm and exploring its value in the design, documentation, and implementation process.
