Brent Figlestahler is a visiting instructor in the Graduate Program in Landscape Architecture, teaching courses in plant taxonomy and identification. He holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from Morgan State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Latin American Studies from Warren Wilson College. A Certified Professional Horticulturist and member of the Maryland Horticultural Society, the American Public Garden Association, and the Maryland Nursery Landscape and Greenhouse Association, Brent is completing his certification as an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Arborist. Formerly in professional landscape architectural practice with Campion Hruby Landscape Architects in Annapolis, in 2019 he was appointed head gardener for the Cylburn Arboreum Friends, the non-profit responsible for programming and stewardship of the City of Baltimore's public arboretum. Passionate about connecting people and landscapes, Brent's work takes the form of designed gardens, curated collections, and managed urban woodlands; publications for horticultural societies; and community lectures and tours offered to fellow plant and tree enthusiasts around the state.
