Vanessa Dodo Seriki, Ph.D., is Associate Dean for Recruitment and Student Success and Associate Professor of Science Education in the Department of Advanced Studies, Leadership, and Policy in the School of Education and Urban Studies at Morgan State University. As a former high school teacher and a graduate of an urban high school Dr. Dodo Seriki is familiar with the realities that face students, families, teachers, and schools in urban communities. As such, she has dedicated teaching and research to enhancing the learning experiences and opportunities for teachers, students, and families in urban communities.
Dr. Dodo Seriki’s research interests include the use of Culturally Relevant Pedagogy and Cultural Modeling in science education; the intersectionality of race, class, and gender in Education (including p-12, Higher Education, teacher education, and science education) as seen through the lens of Critical Race Theory; and the accessibility and engagement of Black children in STEM educational opportunities. Recently, she expanded her research agenda to include using peer observation of teaching to enhance instructional quality and student success.
