Welcome to the Department of Chemistry. We strive for excellence in research and teaching. Our faculty have won national teaching awards, been awarded research funding from federal and private funding agencies, published in leading scientific research journals, served on American Chemical Society (ACS) Education Committees and National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE) executive board and established international research collaborations.

Our undergraduates are exposed to innovative inquiry-based learning, a supportive Chemistry Club, hands-on research training opportunities, national research conferences, external summer research programs, and dynamic outside speakers. Our undergraduate alumni have earned advanced degrees such as Ph.D., MD, JD, DDS and PharmD. Graduates have attended Harvard Medical School, Carnegie Mellon University, MIT, University of Florida, UNC-Chapel Hill, Emory, UT-Austin and Drexel School of Nursing to name a few!
