Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program

Program Mission

The Women and Gender Studies Program (Women, Gender, and Sexuality) is a trans-disciplinary program designed to:

  1. Educate Morgan State University students about the importance of gender equity
  2. Promote critical thinking about the role of gender across all disciplines and in all areas of life
  3. Provide analytical frameworks for the examination of gender, race, ethnicity, class, and sexuality

The mission is dependent upon trans-disciplinary teaching, research, and programming for success, and it recognizes that gender, race, class, ethnicity, age, sexuality, and nationality are crucial aspects of identity and can best be understood primarily through their intersections. It further seeks to create a community of scholars and activists who can discuss and interrogate the issues associated with gender and sexuality.
