Conduct Process

Making Positive Decisions

The conduct process begins with you, the student, making choices that produce positive outcomes for you and the MSU community.  Prior to a Code violation, step into the right choice. Stop, Think, Exhale, Positive.

  1. When things begin to escalate Stop
  2. Think about options and consequences
  3. Take time to Exhale and breathe through the situation
  4. Choose the behavior that will yield the most Positive results

Some examples of acceptable behaviors include the following:

  1. Walk away from the situation and report it.
  2. Request and participate in mediation.
  3. Report the violation and remain to explain.

Once an alleged Student Code of Conduct violation has taken place and has been reported to the OSRR.

  2. Charged parties receive a notice of conduct conference from the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities.
  3. Read the entire notice.
    1. Check student email, spam, and Guardian account for correspondence.
    2. Any charged student may call the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities to inquire about case details.

  5. Provide your account of the events during the conference.
  6. A decision is made regarding the case and correspondence is emailed to the student and posted in Guardian.
