Morgan State Sets HBCU Record for Patents Awarded and Pushes for More
Morgan State University in Baltimore is setting records among Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) for awarded patents and technology development. In 2023, the university was issued 13 patents — topping the previous record of 11 among all HBCUs and landing Morgan State on the National Academy of Inventors list of the Top 100 Universities Awarded U.S. Issued Utility Patents in 2023 — a first for any HBCU.
