Dual Degree Masters of Arts in Teaching Program (M.A.T.)

What is the Dual Degree Program
 5-year B.S./ B.A. + M.A.T. program
 Integrates both graduate work and undergraduate experience
 Allows candidate to earn both a B.S./ B.A. and a M.A.T by completing 5 years of study

Students Should
 Consult the Morgan State University undergraduate catalog to generate a 4-year course plan for the program disciplines
(Art, Biology, Chemistry, English, History, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, and Physics)
 Seek guidance and secure approval from Dr. Marilyn Rondeau, Director of the Masters/Certification

Who is Eligible?
 Undergraduate candidates and degree completers in the following concentrations: Art, Biology, Chemistry, English, History, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, and Physics

What are the admission requirements?
Candidates must:
 Earn and maintain a 3.0 (GPA) by the end of the sophomore year
 Meet the university requirements for junior status
 Contact the graduate director of the M.A.T. program, Dr. Marilyn Rondeau, prior to the end of the sophomore year
 Complete all entry program forms and application

What are the general requirements?
Candidates are required to:
 Complete the B.S./ B.A. degree requirements for their discipline
 Complete 33 credit hours of graduate work (3 credits hours of methods and 12 credit hours of student teaching)
 Complete 100 internship days
 Pass both Praxis I and II examination
 Successful complete and defend the e-portfolio

What is the application Process?
 Complete the Application for Graduate School
 Submit 3 letters of recommendation
 Submit subject are transcript
 Personal Statement (min. 350 words) for the Program
 Have an Overall Cumulative GPA of 3.0
 Complete the Assistantship and Fellowship Forms
 Earn Credits (56-89) needed for junior status
