Assistant/Associate Professor, CS-Cybersecurity and CS-Cloud Computing (Two Positions)

The Department of Computer Science at Morgan State University (MSU) invites applications for one tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position beginning now in the following areas: Cybersecurity, Data Science, Cryptography, Cloud Computing, Network Security, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence. The successful candidates are expected to teach programs related to the above areas and have a research agenda toward securing outside funding to support the research. We seek applicants who can contribute to the research, teaching, and service missions of the University.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in cybersecurity, cyber operations, computer/network security, computer science, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or a closely related area. Applicants who are expected the completion of the doctoral degree at the time of employment will be considered.
• Demonstrated potential for successful teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels and a strong commitment to teaching, interdisciplinary research, and cultural diversity.
• Demonstrated potential for high scholarly impact through research and publications.
• Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.

Responsibilities:
Successful candidate is responsible to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop a focused area of research in cybersecurity, supervise undergraduate and graduate students, and provide service to the University, School, Department, the profession and the community. We are particularly interested in applicants with a demonstrated interest in mentoring students from traditionally underrepresented groups.
Salary, Rank, and Tenure: Salary is commensurate with professional experience and preparation. This is a tenure-track, 9.5-month position with the possibility for summer support.

Cybersecurity at Morgan State University: MSU has been approved by the State of Maryland to launch the Cybersecurity Assurance and Policy Center (CAP Center), where the new faculty are expected to play an important role in research and new program development. In addition, MSU has been designated by the National Security Agency to be a National Center for Academic Excellence in cybersecurity education (CAE-CDE) since 2015.

Cloud Computing at Morgan State University: MSU has been approved by the the State of Maryland to launch a new Cloud Computing program. The new faculty are expected to have solid foundation in Computer Science while posseses extensive knowledge and skills in cloud computing and online teaching.

The Computer Science Department is currently on a rapid expansion. The Department offers a Bachelor of Science program in Computer Science and a Master of Science in Bioinformatics. A Master of Science in Computer Science and an interdisciplinary Master of Science in Cloud Computing and Cybersecurity programs are expected to launch in fall 2020. A Cryptography track to PhD Program on Industrial and Computational Mathematics is being developed. Involvement in Doctor of Engineering PhD program is also possible. The Department offers a stimulating environment that encourages strong collaborative interactions and opportunities for multidisciplinary research. The Computer Science Department is one of the five Departments within the School of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences.
