2018 Spring Graduating Students and Awards Luncheon
On May 8, 2018, the School of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences held the 2018 Spring Graduating Students and Awards Luncheon to celebrate the graduation and achievements of the Spring 2018 graduating class, consisting of forty bachelor's, ten master's and two doctoral students. When combined with the fall graduates, the class of 2018 includes seventy-five bachelor's, eighteen masters' and seven PhD students—the most PhD students ever graduated within a single year at SCMNS.
In addition, we recognized and celebrated several special individuals as they prepare to leave Morgan. Prof. Cornelia Hsu is retiring from the Mathematics Department after 45 years of service to our students and faculty. Prof. Alvin Kennedy will retire from the Department of Chemistry after 18 years of service, having also served as Interim Dean of SCMNS. Prof. Conrad Williams is retiring after 25 years of teaching in the Department of Physics and a successful career in the US Naval Research Laboratory. Dr. Yu also extended his gratitude to Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Gloria Gibson, for all the wonderful work she has done for SCMNS and Morgan as she prepares to serve as president of Northern Illinois University. We were honored to be joined by President Wilson, who offered our graduating class words of wisdom and encouragement.
Congratulations to the 2018 Spring Graduating Class and Special Honorees!
