Stock Market Challenge
The MSU Stock Market Challenge is open to the current Morgan State University students who are members of the Investment Club. The six-month challenge is free at morgantrading.stocktrak.com, and students have the opportunity to invest in Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Spot Currencies, Commodities, and Options. The top three students with the highest portfolio performance will receive awards. Students will be eligible for rewards if they trade with one account based on their email address, use their own names and follow all the rules and regulations.
MSU Stock Market Challenge 2018/2019 Winners
Joianna Wallace is a second-year Graves Honors student with her major as Finance. Her GPA is currently 3.86/4.0 and she is a Dean's list recipient for the Fall 2018 semester earning a GPA of 4.0/4.0. She is a member of the Clara I. Adams Honors College and is a Martin D. Jenkins Scholar. As an active member of the Graves Honors Program, Joianna has participated in the Global Exposure ELA having the opportunity to visit the Brazilian, German, Spanish, and French Embassies in Washington, D.C. Last year, she was one of the two students selected to travel abroad to Germany with the Graves Honors Program. Joianna won the Inaugural Morgan State University Stock Pitch Competition through the MSU Investment Club having the highest return on her portfolio, over a 14% return over the eight-month competition. She is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the Business Honor Society, the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), Morgan State University Chapter, and the Absolutely Beautifully & Confident Modeling Organization (A.B.C.). She served as a peer tutor with the CASA Center this past semester, tutoring Philosophy: Critical Thinking and Calculus for Non-Science Majors. After this semester, she will be interning with Citigroup, Inc. in New York City, in the Sophomore Leadership Program, starting with a rotation in Capital Markets.
Elizabeth Olusola is Senior accounting major, who balances her academics with her involvement in other clubs and extracurricular activities. She is a member of the Beta Alpha Psi accounting Kappa chapter and the finance club on campus. She also tutor students as part of the CASA Academy in Math,English, and accounting related courses. Her initial participation in the Excel workshops led to her involvement in the investment club. Through the MSU Stock Market Challenge, she learned how to use various resources and real-time data to successfully trade and manage virtual assets. She hopes to use her analytical skills and experience gained in the campus Stock Market Challenge to make better future decisions financially in her professional career and personal life.
