On Monday November 27, 2017, Morgan State University officially welcomed 11 delegates from Nigerian institutions of higher education to join Morgan in celebrating its historical sesquicentennial convocation in the Murphy Fine Arts Center. The home institutions of the delegates are young compared to Morgan, so President David Wilson's invitation was momentous as the enthusiastic delegates seek insight to Morgan's prospects and achievements and guidance in accomplishing similar goals. The Honorable Barrister Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Communication of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was also represented at the occasion.
The Nigerian delegates were assisted by Prof. Hakeem Tijani, former tenured professor in the History Department, who was on special assignment with the Division of International Affairs. Each delegate brought a greeting from their respective universities and Prof. Tijani read a message from Minister Shittu. Finally, Prof Angela Miri (VC, Federal Univ. Lokoja) gave an inspiring and uplifting speech that brought the audience to its feet. The delegates signed a MOU and exchanged gifts with President David Wilson on Tuesday November 28, 2018. Professor Andrew Haruna, VC of Federal University Gashua Yobe State, visited the campus on Friday March 2, 2018.
