Digital Clutter Cleanup Tip #6

Woman using a laptop

🏆 Goal: Clear your browser history and cache, reduce bookmarks by 30%, and remove at least 3 unused extensions. Track your initial and final bookmark count and extension number.

💡Tip: Schedule a monthly browser cleanup to maintain optimal performance and organization.

⭐ Benefits: A streamlined browser improves speed, enhances privacy, and makes finding important bookmarks easier.

Let's Get Started

A cluttered browser can slow down your online experience and make it difficult to find the resources you need. Today's challenge will help you optimize your browser for better performance and organization.

Follow these three simple steps:

  1. Clear Browser History and Cache: Go to your browser settings and clear your browsing data, including history and cache. This frees up space and can improve browser speed. Note: Ensure you've saved any important passwords before clearing data, or use a password manager.
  2. Delete or Organize Bookmarks: Review your bookmarks and remove any that are outdated or no longer relevant. Organize remaining bookmarks into folders such as "MSU Resources," "Research," or "Course Materials." Tip: Use descriptive names for bookmarks to make them easier to find later.
  3. Remove Unnecessary Extensions: Audit your browser extensions. Uninstall any that you don't use regularly or that might be slowing down your browser. Remember: Some extensions may be required for MSU online services. Check with DIT before removing if unsure.
