Department:      School of Global Journalism and Communication

 

Duties:   Anchors newscasts during afternoon news block; anchors live special coverage; produces spot and feature stories and newsmaker interviews for WEAA and possible national distribution; writes news copy; rewrites copy produced by wire services and WEAA student reporters;  conducts interviews to supplement wire copy; reports and produces investigative and enterprise stories; provides field coverage for local and regional beats; covers breaking news; produces spot and feature-length stories, creates content for digital platforms; supervises and works with student reporters; maintains WEAA’s digital news presence;  and performs other duties, as required.

 Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelors’ Degree in mass communications, journalism or related field; Five (5) years of experience in on-air broadcasting and reporting.

Requirements:     Knowledge of broadcasting and digital platforms; knowledge of digital and social media;  ability to report and record quickly in a fast-paced environment; knowledge of broadcast equipment operations; ability to exercise outstanding news judgment; ability to communicate effectively; ability to organize and manage time; ability to carry broadcast equipment.
