Department:             Office of Residence Life and Housing

Duties:   Performs a variety of skilled tasks in maintenance;  repairs utilities, buildings, facilities and equipment;  completes work orders that may include replacing electrical components, repairing plumbing fixtures, repairing/installing ceiling tiles, repairing leaking roofs and general carpentry and painting jobs; conducts scheduled and unscheduled inspections of buildings, equipment and facilities to prevent and resolve problems; performs routine preventive maintenance and repair activities; performs emergency repairs; installs and repairs garbage disposals, gas ranges, refrigerators, kitchen and bathroom sinks, toilets and related plumbing/hardware assignments; installs smoke detectors; installs indoor/outdoor fans in air conditioning units; installs electrical receptacles; repairs and moves furniture and equipment; installs window screens and floor tiles; prepares material lists for job orders; maintains supplies and inventory;  and performs other duties, as required.

Miniumum Qualifications:  High School Diploma or equivalent; must be available to work weekends, special events, and holidays; must be available in the event of an emergency.

Requirements:   Knowledge of general building maintenance practices; knowledge of technical skills in mechanical maintenance procedures and techniques; skill in use of maintenance equipment and tools; ability to install and service residential and HVAC equipment; ability to troubleshoot; ability to work under stress, work independently and as a team member; ability to work with people in a professional manner; ability to walk stand, stoop, kneel and climb; ability to work at unspecified heights; ability to work in hot and cold conditions inside and outdoors;  ability to read and comprehend instructions.

Note:    Must be available to work a flexible schedule including, but not limited to evenings, weekends, holidays, and in the event of an emergent need.
