Department: Police and Public Safety

Duties: Enforces University policies and procedures pertaining to public safety; plans and directs campus security activities, including special events and dignitary protection; works closely with the university administration to ensure compliance with or enforcement of Federal, State, local laws, as well as University policies, rules and regulations including the Jeanne Clery Act; develops, recommends, and administers security, parking enforcement, traffic flow policies, and procedures to insure the safety of students, staff, faculty, visitors, and property of the University; oversees follow-up investigations of all incidents/daily reports and recommends corrective action to resolve and prevent recurrence; collects and reports crime statistics; maintains leadership and guidance of subordinate staff members and facilitates disciplinary procedures; serves as a Liaison to first responder agencies; Working knowledge of personal computers and the applicable software; maintains records and disseminates them where appropriate within the university according to federal, and state guidelines; performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited College or University; Ten (10) years experience as a sworn officer with progressively responsible policing experience including five years of supervisory command in law enforcement.

Requirements: Knowledge of law enforcement; safety and security; university operations; and policies and procedures; knowledge of National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) based emergency preparedness; skill in planning and policy development; ability interact effectively with diverse groups and individuals at all levels of the organization.
