The Major in English and Language Arts
Whether it's a seminar in Renaissance studies, an advanced fiction-writing workshop, or filmmaking, journalism, animation, or a course in the African American novel, as a student in the Department of English and Language Arts at Morgan State University, you'll find yourself in a dynamic stimulating environment with knowledgeable professors.
The major in English requires a total of 54-60 credits, depending on the student's choice of concentration. The 33-credit CORE sequence includes courses in English, American, and African American literature, along with courses in literary criticism and the history of the English language. A six-credit foreign language sequence completes the core course program. Students may form concentrations in Literature and Language, Creative Writing, Language Arts, or Pre-law, and minors in Journalism, or Film and Digital Storytelling by choosing appropriate courses from designated Groups.
