About the JWPE: Junior Writing Proficiency Examination Information Page
Registration for the Junior Writing Proficiency Examination (JWPE) is available through WebSIS as an ENGL 001 course for the duration of the Spring 2014 WebSIS registration period. Check the academic calendar for information regarding registration dates for the Spring 2014 semester. ENGL001 is different from other courses in two important ways:
(1) the JWPE is free of charge and
(2) the JWPE is administered on one day from (11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.).
The next JWPE will be administered on Thursday, March 6, 2014. In order to take the JWPE, you must meet ALL of the following eligibility requirements BEFORE registering for the exam:
Earned transfer credit or a final grade of “C” or better in ENGL 101 or ENGL 111
Earned transfer credit or a final grade of “C” or better in ENGL 102 or ENGL 112
Earned transfer credit or a final grade of “D” or better in HUMA 201 or HUMA 211
Earned transfer credit or a final grade of “D” or better in HUMA 202 or HUMA 212
Your eligibility will be verified. After you register for a section of ENGL 001, you will automatically be enrolled in the ENGL 001 Blackboard (Bb) course within 24 hours and will receive subsequent email messages and announcements. Please be advised: it is most beneficial for you to bring your Bear card, two black ink pens, and a dictionary with you to the testing site, arriving at least 15 minutes early.
Additionally, the Writing Center strongly recommends that you request a confidential appointment with a tutor by contacting email@example.com with your availability or try the Essay Practice for the JWPE exercise before taking the Junior Writing Proficiency Examination.
