Welcome to the Department of Advanced Studies, Leadership, and Policy in the School of Education and Urban Studies. We are committed to excellence in graduate studies in the field of education. It is a unique entity within the university structure in that it is entirely focused on advanced degrees and annually produces the largest number of doctoral graduates of any department within the university.

Our graduate programs are dedicated to the preparation of a cadre of educational leaders who are committed to effecting positive transformation at all levels of education. The specific focus of all of these programs is the urban context, a fact that is evident in the department's research agenda which is dedicated to informing policy and practice in urban educational systems. New students will find the department to be one that nurtures an active community of scholars and practitioners and provides numerous opportunities for personal and professional growth.
